Seemin Ahmed

Principal Scientist and Gene Therapy Leader Novartis AG

Seemin Ahmed, PhD, is a Principal Scientist at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), where she leads gene therapy programs focused on severe neurological and rare diseases. With more than 15 years of preclinical research experience and over a decade in the biopharmaceutical industry, she specializes in AAV-based genetic medicines, translational neuroscience, and the advancement of therapies from discovery through IND-enabling studies. Prior to Novartis, she served as Discovery Lead at Homology Medicines, directing the development of an AAV gene therapy program for phenylketonuria (PKU). Dr. Ahmed earned her PhD at UMass Medical School under gene therapy pioneer Dr. Guangping Gao and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in the field of genetic medicine.
